Wedding Monday?

That's right, you heard it here first. This week we had a Wedding Monday. Fresh after Erin heading back to school we spent some time setting up a few timeliness for the next few months. There is now a little less than 3 months until I am officially a married man. And Yes, I can hear you now saying that Erin still has time to escape...

The timeline we have is doable. I would like to work towards having a seven day vacation before the wedding. By seven day vacation, I do not mean 7 days off. I mean I'd like to have pretty much everything wrapped up a week out. By then I'll just let others run much of the show. My mother will be handling food between the reception, Curt (best man) will be keeping track of the wedding party, Erin's father will be running food for the rehearsal dinner and we have a wedding coordinator who will take care of the vendors & flow of the event. Is it realistic? I'm not sure, but I'm going to give it a shot!

Rockwood Part 2

Another weekend at the Rockwood has passed and the bathroom continues to be under construction. This week we (there was a small army of 5) removed tiling for the "Women's Restroom" as well as cut through the 8" concrete floor so we could create a trench to lay plumbing.

Frank (the owner) concrete cutting.

The process was a pretty good time, maybe it was cutting through the concrete with a concrete cutter or maybe it was jackhammering the tiles off of the wall?

Removing tile, before the jackhammer.

Some of the other work we accomplished was to plant 150 - 200 saplings around the property.

This is the work crew (Drew; groomsman, Russel; usher, Morgan; usher, Erin & me)

This week is also a big week for Erin as she is on Vacation from her job. A whole week of wedding planning should get us quite a way into flowers & decorations. She is hoping to knock those 2 out this week. So what is next? Invitations & Setting up the "flow" of the ceremony & reception. I'm looking forward to adding some pretty fun things.

No Wedding Wednesday this week

This week I went and got sick. That's right beautiful weather hits and I feel lousy. No work Tuesday or Wednesday (well I did some at home) and I was feeling to tired to handle a full blown wedding Wednesday. The good news is that I am feeling much better. Still tired as all get out, but feeling much better. This weekend's plans include more barn work and this time I am having a few more friends come with me. This should be something...

Also, 3 more misting fans came in this week from Amazon.com. I received a really good deal on them and couldn't pass them up, so now they are in my basement waiting to be assembled. I also bought stamps yesterday. And it just happens to be that the post office has made a "wedding stamp", so I bought 300 of them followed by 300 regular post card stamps. Come to find out I don't need that many. Since a lot of folks invited to the wedding only have one address. So I bought basically 100 extra stamps of each. That's fine for the letter stamps, thanks to "thank you" notes, but what am I going to do with 100 extra post card stamps? Time to get creative. Looks like I may be sending out some "Thank You" post cards!

Also for the 2 large fans I have, I need to buy belts. I looked at the website of the manufacturer and was looking at spending $50/each for their belt-assembly. When I called and stressed I only needed the belts I was asked to send a $10 check for 2 belts. Not bad.

Remodeling at the Rockwood

Ok, time to resurrect this blog. I'm back from my vacation and there is all sorts of work to be done. If anyone still checks this site I will be surprised, but I'll blog right along.

All the major decisions have been made, now it is detail time. My next set of details revolve around the place where our reception will be held, the massive barn at the Rockwood Manor. So this week in order to start things up right Erin and I went to check the place out and do a little bit of work. Here are some photos:

Me, after knocking down a wall that will be the restrooms for the reception area.

Erin, sweeping dirt/dust/hay down some stairs.

How dusty was the barn as we were cleaning you ask? Now you know why we were wearing dust masks...

So there it was a Saturday of working at the Rockwood. Future plans include working on the bathroom and continuing to set-up the barn. There is a LOT of work to be done and I'm looking forward to it. Work to be done in the barn that is on my list of things to do:

- Ventilation (Barns get hot in the middle of the summer)
- Audio
- Lighting
- Logistics (tables, buffet lines, DJ & Square dancing set-up)
- Power needs

Also on my list: Rain Plans for the ceremony, rehearsal dinner and reception. Erin has a Spring break coming up in a week and is currently tasked with all things flowers and decoration. I have very little skill in this area and I'm excited to see how everything (esp. the barn) will look when she gets done with it.
